frequently asked questions
Our Wedding
-
Unfortunately, no. We’ve already had our wedding, just the two of us, in Chicago.
Although we know that may be disappointing, and trust us that we feel that loss too, our wedding felt true to what we needed in that moment and felt exactly right for us.
-
We felt a deep desire to commit to each other now rather than wait. It was an intimate, emotional, and joyful decision. While we certainly missed having everyone there, the day felt right for us.
Our Move to Spain
-
We want to build a future and a family together in a place where we both feel safe, legally protected, and fully recognized. We’re also deeply drawn Spanish culture and its emphasis on community, family, and a slower, more balanced pace of life — values that feel closely aligned with the kind of life we hope to build together.
This decision comes from a shared desire for stability, dignity, and long-term security, and we’re approaching it with a lot of hope for what’s ahead.
-
We’re planning to move in late December 2026.
-
We’re not entirely sure yet, and honestly, we don’t have all the answers right now. While we’ll absolutely be visiting family and friends in the U.S., our current focus is on building a stable, happy life together in Spain and seeing where that leads us.
-
Yes, they’ll absolutely be joining us in Spain. Since Riker is older now, we’ve been working closely with his vet to make sure he’s healthy enough for the trip. Thankfully everything is looking good so far, and we’re doing everything we can to make the upcoming move as safe and comfortable for them as possible.
-
Absolutely. Once we get settled, we would love to create new memories in Spain and share our life there with the people we love.
Staying Connected
-
Excited, emotional, hopeful, overwhelmed — honestly, a little bit of everything. This transition means a lot to us, and while there’s still uncertainty ahead, we feel deeply grateful to be building this life together.
-
Staying connected with us means more than anything. Ask questions with openness, continue to love us as we are, and stand up for trans people and immigrant communities.
For those who have asked about ways to celebrate or support us during this transition, we’ve also shared a few funds on our registry. Gifts can also be sent via Venmo or through the mail. As we prepare for our move abroad, we kindly ask that no physical gifts be sent.
-
We know this move creates distance in some ways, but maintaining connection with the people we love is deeply important to us. Along with keeping in touch individually, we’re also putting together an email list for family and friends where we’ll occasionally share updates, photos, and little moments from our life in Spain.
If you’d like to follow along, please join our email list. :)
